I talk so much about making health a lifestyle. However, life is always evolving. When it come to health we all have our goals like losing 20 pounds, running a 5K, or having extra energy to chase 4 kids. However, the goal or outcome is not the ultimate prize. The prize is the process!
It’s not the outcome that we need to focus on week after week, it’s the actions and barriers we are overcoming right now. These barriers are what weighs us down hour after hour. If we focus on the journey of creating healthier actions, we overcome our barriers and the end goal just happens. The end goal becomes the byproduct which allows us to maintain it so much more easily. The outcome can burn us out, frustrate us if we don’t see it early enough, or worst case is make us feel like failures. When we give our health 110% we are not failing. Instead, we should be celebrating that we are giving our own mind and body what it deserves. So instead of constantly focusing on that end goal not coming soon enough, reflect on what you have accomplished thus far and what you are doing today. The positive present moment within this journey pushes you even further forward.
Trust me as I write this, it took me 2 attempts to get me where I am today. The first time I lost my weight more within vanity and fitting into a wedding dress. I focused solely on the weight drop each week on the scale. Guess what…..I gained it all back! So second attempt my husband got onboard and I changed our lifestyle. I started cooking differently for us, I logged consistently to the gram, and planned ahead always having meals and workout gear ready to go. We worked as a team to make our life routine healthier and the weight came off throughout the journey. I am still in my healthy range and haven’t changed a thing (except for maybe a little more wine) since we began our lifestyle change. This is the only way to keep it off!
So hear are a few tid bits to follow today.
1) Focus on the action. What are you doing right now to better your health?
2) Reflect on where you started and how far you have traveled forward within your journey toward health.
3) Smile. This turn of the lips can create so much more positive energy within you to do more.
4) Reply below with your ideas to make the prize the process!
Happy Travels!
