The sun is shining and baseball is in full swing. We were asked by a local business to attend a Tin Caps game for dinner. Ben and I haven’t been to a Tin Caps game in years so thought it would be a fun event to attend. Since dinner would be served, most likely a baseball favorite like hot dogs and hamburgers, I knew I needed to have a plan.
- First thing is first, always have a large water bottle on you. I carried in my typical 30oz. water bottle to continually fill up. Lines can be long therefore a barrier, so if you can have a larger container to fill you will not need to wait as many times. Good thing I did since the water cups were super tiny!
- Don’t enter the gathering super hungry. Finding a parking space, walking into the stadium, and getting to our seating took longer than we thought. Plus, I didn’t know what would be served. So I made sure I filled up on lots of vegetables full of fiber and a healthy protein before I left the house.
- Think outside of the box. Sometimes at social gatherings you may need to be very creative in filling your plate. When I approached the food table hamburgers, chips, garnishes for the burgers, and creamy potato salad were being served. Hmmmm….how would I eat enough veggies and keep heading towards my healthy vision?
- I focused my plate on the garnish tray! Who says we can’t make a salad from it? I started with the lettuce leaves, then the tomato, onion, and even a pickle. I grabbed a knife and ran to my seat to start cutting.
When we have a healthy vision in mind that we want to achieve, we can’t allow the barriers of someone serving their favorites get in the way. As I was waiting in line to fill up on water, a lady actually approached me and asked where I found the salad! I even influenced others at this gathering to think outside the box. It was a fun evening of seeing people from Wabash and enjoying a summer evening outside. Now I have to say, I hit a home run this night in health! Follow my blog with Bloglovin
