Failure is What Enables Us to Strive

A little thought on this Wednesday morning for you! One of my favorite quotes is “fail forward.” To overcome life’s barriers and succeed within our own personal health vision we must act, fail, and act again with determination to take the right actions that will lead to the results we desire.

Last night when I was talking to my dad, he said “I just want to be perfect!” I sat for a moment and thought ‘what does perfection actually mean?’ In my mind there is no way to achieve perfection. Plus, I think it would be boring if perfection means we have reached our highest level…where there is no more room for growth, there is no more room for learning, there is no more that we can physically do. This isn’t how life works!

In life we should strive to be our best-self. However, a lot of times even our best-self makes mistakes, eats mindlessly, and thrives on guilty pleasures. Life is about understanding what makes ourselves become even more alive and then working on doing these things consistently. Challenges  and failure are inevitable and often cause us to fall down; but it is what we do when we get back up that allows us to grow, learn, and become even greater. I encourage you to be honest, be aware, and be constant in this endeavor to become your best-self. Find that deep passion and love within your imperfections and those of others. Our quirks, trials, and achievements make us who we are…so let’s embrace them!

I encourage you to strive a little harder this week… go do a HEALTHY something that you didn’t expect yourself to do…find ways to encourage your friends and family! You may fail, you may succeed; regardless, show yourself that you CAN move forward by starting and continuing the right actions on a daily basis. This will enable YOU to overcome many of life’s challenges and become the change that you want to see in your world.
